A technical, strict and disciplined style of dance that provides students with the basics of correct posture, co-ordination and muscle strength, classical ballet is the basis of all dance techniques.
CJSDA follows the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus and offers classes and exams from Pre-Primary level (approx 5 years old) to Advanced 2.
Students must take a minimum of two ballet classes per week to be considered for an exam.
All students who want to be considered as part of the Eisteddfod Team must take at least one ballet class per week.
Jazz is a foundation style of dance that incorporates technique as well as styles as diverse as Broadway Jazz and more commercial styles seen in music videos.
Jazz requires power, technique, confidence and style and is a great introduction to dance for beginners.
At CJSDA we offer classes for students aged from just 5 years old to Advanced levels. We also offer jazz technique classes for students interested in studying this style to an exam level.
Hip Hop is one of our most popular classes and is offered at all levels from Little Ones (5-6 year olds) to Senior/Advanced level.
Hip hop is born from the streets and is primarily performed to hip-hop music or music that has evolved as part of hip-hop culture.
It includes a wide range of styles primarily breaking which was created in the 1970s and made popular by dance crews in the United States.
At CJSDA we also offer a Boys Only Hip Hop class for boys aged 8-12.
New in 2020, our group singing classes are ideal for beginners or experienced singers who want weekly practice. Private tuition also available.

Tap is a unique and fun style of dance that covers a range of styles from old-school Fred Astaire to modern street tap seen in shows such as Stomp and Tap Dogs.
At CJSDA selected students can take exams in the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing syllbus which promotes technique and musicality.

Welcome to Broadway! Musical theatre is a form of theatre combining songs, spoken dialogue, acting and dance.
In this class students will work on pieces from well known musical from stage and screen to develop skills and an appreciation for the art form.
Musical theatre classes are offered for students from just 5 years old.
Being part of the ‘Eisteddfod Team’ involves students to learn and train at a higher level/standard of dance. These classes teach students performance skills, stagecraft skills, showmanship, correct technique, discipline and enjoyment.
To be considered for the Eisteddfod Team, student must take a minimum of one ballet, one jazz technique and one tap class per week. The Eisteddfod Team meets twice per week and competes in local eisteddfods throughout the year
EISTEDDFOD & ELITE TEAMS
Focussed on technique, this class will develop strength in theatrical styles such as traditional jazz, commercial styles and modern/contemporary to equip students with a well-rounded skill set.
Selected students are able to take exams in the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing syllabi.
This organisation works in conjunction with the Royal Academy of Dance to provide age-specific training leading to world-recognised qualifications.

A style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern jazz and classical ballet, contemporary dance has gained popularity in recent years.
In terms of the focus of its technique, contemporary dance tends to combine the strong but controlled legwork of ballet with modern that stresses on torso.
It also employs contract-release, floor work, fall and recovery, and improvisation characteristics of modern dance.
We offer classes for students aged from 5 years old to Advanced levels.
This class is designed to help students achieve strength, flexibility and acrobatic skills in a safe class environment.
Students will learn elements such as cartwheels, handstands, walkovers and balance skills (e.g. partner, trio and group holds/formations).
Another popular class, acrobatics is offered to students from 5 years of age.
New in 2020, this class provides students with acting skills, improved confidence and skills that will be useful into adult life.
Perfect to develop and improve public speaking skills. Private tuition also available.
